Systems & infrastructure engineer based in Detroit, MI.
Spent the past twenty-odd years working close to the OS boundary — starting out on Solaris and early Linux boxes in the late '90s, building telecom framing pipelines, network transport stacks, and low-latency daemon processes where tail latency, state-machine invariants, and predictable memory behavior actually matter.
- Network & wire protocols: HTTP/2 & TCP flow-control state machines, non-blocking socket runtimes (
epoll,io_uring), framing codecs, and backpressure accounting. - Systems programming: Rust, C, C++, and Python when gluing test harnesses or trace tooling together.
- Diagnostics & observability:
perf, bpftrace, gdb, packet captures, and deterministic reproduction harnesses over guesswork.
- Wrenching on classic American V8 iron in the garage, running summer track days out at Waterford Hills, and logging standalone ECU telemetry over CAN bus.
- Restoring 1970s Marantz and McIntosh receiver/tube stages on the bench, spinning old jazz and blues pressings on vinyl, and brewing manual pour-overs with washed Ethiopian beans.
