Show Trigger ID in automation trigger name

A simple addition of the Trigger ID to the end or beginning of the [When] text. See picture below.

Use cases

This way you can easily see what ID you have given your Triggers

Current workarounds

No workarounds. You can rename the trigger and name it the Trigger ID, but that also removes what the trigger is.

We are addressing this in a slightly different way in OpenHomeFoundation/roadmap#66!

With 2026.10 unless you edit in YAML mode the ID is generated. In roadmap#66 I just added a comment asking for an enhancement to add name or friendly_name to the trigger variable the way ID used to be done. The this enhancement could show trigger.name or trigger.friendly_name if it is there instead of trigger.id. I added an enhancement request #5169.
